2018 EVENTS


THE 2018 R.O.G.C. XMAS FLOOR & VAULT CHAMPIONSHIPS
ROGC's Level 1 and Level 2 Floor and Vault gymnasts battled it out between themselves.  A knockout day for the club and a fitting end to a fantastic 2018.


38 of Rochdale Olympic Gymnastics Club's gymnasts from the Level 1 and Level 2 Squads battled it out between themselves in the final competition of the year, as they contested The Club's Annual Floor and Vault Championships at their home base in Springfield Park.

Layla Rushton, Alexis Dawson, Sophia Schofield, Pippa Hanson-Walker, Lyla Briddon and Maisie Whitlow emerged as ROGC's newly crowned Floor and Vault Champions, all winning their respective groups.

The Level 1 gymnasts got the day off to a great start with the gymnasts in Group 1 where Sophia Schofield was crowned the Overall Champion in 1st place, followed by Freya Burgess and Isabelle Mosley Dunne in 2nd, Rose Freeman-Hart and Sophie Miller in 3rd, Aimee Bulmer in 4th and Ivy Clark in 5th place.  Sophia took 1st place on Vault, with Freya in 2nd and Rose in 3rd.  On Floor Isabelle took 1st place, with Sophie in 2nd and Rose in 3rd place.  Group 2 saw Pippa Hanson-Walker take victory in 1st place Overall followed by Daisy Whittaker and Olivia-May Hibbert in 2nd, Isabelle Ahern in 3rd, Mika Pearson in 4th and Scarlett Moore in 5th place.  Daisy took 1st place on Vault, with Isabelle in 2nd and Olivia and Pippa in 3rd place.  On Floor Pippa took 1st place, with Olivia in 2nd, whilst Daisy, Mika and Scarlett all shared 3rd place.

Round 2 saw the final 10 Level 1 gymnasts in action, for 7 of which it was their debut competition and they did not disappoint.  Group 3 saw Alexis Dawson take top spot on the podium in 1st place, with Isabella Howarth in 2nd, Lola Whittaker in 3rd, Maisie Loftus in 4th and Serennah Schofield in 5th place. The top 3 girls took the same 3 medal positions on Vault with Alexis in 1st, Isabella 2nd and Lola 3rd.  On Floor Alexis took 1st, Isabella and Lola shared 2nd place, and Maisie and Serennah shared 3rd place.  Layla Rushton triumphed in Group 4 taking 1st place Overall, followed by Scarlett Davis in 2nd, Anabelle Bramwell in 3rd, Tiana-Leigh Austin in 4th and Isabelle Simper in 5th place.  Layla took 1st place on Vault, with Anabelle in 2nd and Scarlett in 3rd.  On Floor Scarlett took 1st place, with Layla in 2nd and Anabelle in 3rd.

The Level 2 gymnasts finished off a hugely successful day where Lyla Briddon took the title in the Under 10 section finishing in 1st place Overall, closely followed by Ava Dixon and Lois Briddon sharing 2nd, Alba Giordani in 3rd, Gracie Gartside and Lottie Peacocke in 4th, Abigail Hinchliff in 5th and Olivia Holroyd in 6th place.  Lyla also took 1st place on Vault, with Lois in 2nd and Gracie in 3rd.  On Floor Ava took 1st place, with Lyla in 2nd and Lois in 3rd.  Maisie Whitlow took victory in the Over 10 competition, closely followed by Holly Aylett in 2nd, Grace Risby in 3rd, Isla Dixon in 4th, Grace Dudley in 5th, Evie Dixon in 6th and Freya Howarth in 7th.  Holly took 1st place on Vault, with Isla in 2nd, and Maisie and Grace Dudley sharing 3rd place.  On Floor Maisie took 1st place, with Grace Risby in 2nd and Holly in 3rd place.

THE 2018 TAMESIDE INTRODUCTION TO 4 PIECE CHAMPIONSHIPS
36 youngsters had some brilliant competitions, with many medal positions and Overall Champions too ........


Rochdale Olympic Gymnastics Club had some first time competitors entered into the 2018 Tameside Introduction to 4 Piece Championships held at Birchwood Leisure Complex, Warrington.  Many of the 36 Rochdale gymnasts were also competing all 4 pieces of apparatus for the first time.  At the end of a great competition the girls returned home with over 40 medals and 3 of them being crowned Overall Champions in their age groups.

Leah Derby got the weekend off to a cracking start being crowned the Champion in the Novice Over 10 category finishing in 1st place Overall and also collecting 2nd place on Beam.  Scarlett Gethin-Jones took the beam title in 1st for a 4th place finish Overall.  Charlotte Wystawnoha 2nd, Holly Rodgers 3rd, Poppy Gethin-Jones 5th and Katie Pickup 12th contested the Advanced Over 12 event.  Charlotte picked up 3rd places on bars and Beam with Holly 2nd on Bars and 1st on Beam.

Abigail Hinchcliff had an outstanding competition in the Beginners Aged 9 group finishing in 2nd place Overall, followed by Gracie Gartside in 3rd, Lyla Briddon in 5th and Sophie Miller in 7th.  Abigail took a medal on every piece of apparatus collecting 3rd on Vault, 1st Bars, 2nd Beam and 3rd on Floor,  Lyla earned 2nd on Vault, with Sophie taking 3rd on Bars and 2nd on Floor. 


First time competitor Olivia-May Hibbert took the title in the Beginners Aged 8 category finishing in 1st place Overall, closely followed by Daisy Whittaker in 2nd, Ava Dixon 5th, Lottie Peacocke 6th, Sophie Squirrell 9th, Scarlett Moore 10th, Alba Giordani 11th, Freya Burgess 12th, Aimee Bulmer 13th and Lois Briddon in 14th.  The girls took a clean sweep of the Beam medals with Olivia in 1st, Daisy in 2nd and Lottie in 3rd.  Daisy also collected 2nd place on Vault.  Scarlett took the gold medal on Floor in 1st place, with Ava in 3rd. 


The Beginners Over 10 gymnasts had an outstanding day on the 2nd day of competition.  Between them the girls took every medal position available across all apparatus.  Mischa Eaton took the Overall Title in 1st place, with Grace Risby in 2nd, Maisie Whitlow in 3rd, Amelie Evans 4th, Holly Aylett 5th, Isla Dixon 6th, Grace Dudley 7th, Freya Howarth 10th and Evie Dixon in 11th.  On Vault Mischa took the gold medal, with Grace Risby taking silver and Holly the bronze.  Bars saw Grace Dudley take the gold, Maisie silver and Mischa the bronze.  Maisie took the Beam gold with Grace Risby in silver and Mischa with bronze.  And finally floor earned Grace Dudley another gold with Grace Risby in silver and Freya took the bronze. 

The Beginners Under 8 section saw Pippa Hanson-Walker narrowly miss out on an overall medal finishing in 4th place Overall, followed by Mika Pearson 14th, Isabelle Moseley-Dunne 16th, Isabelle Ahern 22nd, Rose Freeman-Hart 27th, Sophia Schofield 30th and Ivy Clark in 31st.  Pippas 4th place was aided by 2nd on Vault and 3rd on Beam.  Sophia also took a silver medal on Vault in 2nd place.

The girls have now finished their external competitive events for 2018, and now look forward to the Club Christmas Floor and Vault Championships next month to be held at Rochdale Olympic Gymnastics Club's home base in Springfield Park.

THE 2018 GREATER MANCHESTER 4 PIECE APPARATUS CHAMPIONSHIPS
ROGC's 25 gymnasts absolutely smashed their weekend of competition  ........  with 4 Greater Manchester Champions, over 40 medal positions and lots of gymnasts to move up a level next year.


25 young gymnasts from Rochdale Olympic Gymnastics Club had a much improved performance on the previous week as they contested the 2018 Greater Manchester 4 Piece Apparatus Championships held at Robin Park Arena Wigan. 


Following some fabulous scores the club returned home with 4 Greater Manchester County Overall Champions, over 40 medal positions on the podium, with lots of them finishing in the top positions, rewarding them with moving up to the next level in 2019.

The Level 6 Aged 11 gymnasts for the weekend off to a great start when Hannah Pratt had a brilliant competition for 3rd place Overall, followed by TIlly Dooner in 5th, Isobel Lee 6th and Rebecca Razzaq in 9th.  Tilly was credited with 2nd place on Vault and Bars, Hannah 3rd on vault and 2nd on Bars, and Isobel took the beam title in 1st place.  Lauren Hibbert, Wendy Sarco and Emily Chant all had fabulous competitions across all pieces in the Level 4 Senior category with Lauren being crowned the Overall Champion, closely followed by Wendy in 3rd and Emily in 4th.  Lauren also took the titles on Bars and Beam, with a 3rd place on Floor.  Wendy took two 2nd placings on both Bars and Beam, with Emily taking 3rd on beam making it a clean sweep for ROGC on that apparatus.

ROGC's only contestant in the Level 5 aged 11 group earned Jessica Lees a back to back victory following last weekends win at the North West Championships, when she was crowned the Overall Greater Manchester Champion in 1st place aided by 1st places on both Bars and Beam. Niamh Matthew took top spot on the podium in the Level 6 Over 13 section finishing in 1st place Overall, with Eliza Mulhearn in 7th and Eve Jennings in 8th.  Niamh was also credited with 1st on Bars and 2nd on Beam, with Eliza taking the silver medal on Vault.  Sophie Cockcroft had a fabulous outing in the Level 5 Aged 12 taking 2nd spot in the Overall standings, followed by Kaitlyn Campbell in 4th.  Kaitlyn took the bars title and Sophie took the beam title both earning gold medals.


The Level 4 Juniors earned Kyrah Patterson an 11th place finish Overall, narrowly missing out on medal positions on 3 of the apparatus. 


 Martha Smith was the Club's 2nd gymnast to take back to back victories following a win in last weeks Regional Championships, as she once again finished in top spot of the podium in the Level 5 Over 13 section, followed by Imogen Hurst in 5th.  Martha also took the beam title along with 3rd on Bars.  Imogen took 2nd on Beam.

Macy Stokes had a fantastic outing in the Level 6 Aged 10 section eventually finishing in 2nd place Overall, with Luci Ashton in 5th, Ella Rosales in 12th, Millie Nuttall 13th, and Maisie Cosgrove 22nd.  Macy also took 2nd on Vault, 1st on Bars and 2nd on Beam, whilst Ella was rewarded with 3rd on vault and 2nd on Bars.  Emily Cockcroft earned a 9th place finish in the Level 6 Aged 9 event, with a well deserved 3rd place on Bars.

The final round of the weekend saw Martel Emberga narrowly missed out on the title in the Level 6 Aged 12 group finishing in 2nd place Overall, followed by Zeynep Ikikardesler in 9th and Cordy Welch in 10th.  Cordy took 1st place on Bars, Martel took 1st place on Beam, with Zeynep in 2nd.

 

These girls have now completed their competitive events for this year and will now look forward to the challenges they face in 2019.

THE 2018 NORTH WEST REGIONAL 4 PIECE APPARATUS CHAMPIONSHIPS
A weekend of mixed fortunes ........
Two North West Champions


A weekend of mixed fortunes was had by Rochdale Olympic Gymnastics Clubs 24 gymnasts who participated in the 2018 North West Regional 4 Piece Apparatus Championships held at Robin Park Arena, Wigan.  The conclusion of the weekend resulted in the gymnasts all pulling through in the end, and the club returned home with 2 North West Regional Champions and numerous medal positions on the podium.

Kyrah Patterson got the weekend off to a start in her first competition as a Level 4 Junior where following an unfortunate fall from bars finished in a creditable 15th position Overall.  Luci Ashton 17th, Millie Nuttall 18th, Summer Taylor 21st and Maisie Cosgrove 22nd contested the Level 6 Aged 10 event.  The Level 4 Senior category saw Emily Chant and Lauren Hibbert in 14th, and Wendy Sarco in 17th place. Wendy was rewarded with a well deserved 2nd place on Beam.  Martel Emberga had a fantastic competition in the Level 6 Aged 12+ earning a 5th place Overall with Zeynep Ikikardelser in 7th, Niamh Matthew 16th, Cordy Welch 18th, Eliza Mulhearn 23rd and Eve Jennings in 24th.  The girls took a clean sweep of the medal positions on Bars with Cordy 1st, Martel 2nd and Zeynep 3rd.  Martel also took 2nd place on Floor, with Zeynep 3rd on Beam.

Jessica Lees had a brilliant outing in the Level 5 Aged 11 where she was crowned the Overall Champion in 1st place aided by 2nd on Bars, and 1st place on both Beam and Floor.  Kaitlyn Campbell produced a clean competition for a very worth 4th placing Overall in the Level 5 Aged 12+ followed by Sophie Cockcroft in 8th place.

The Level 6 Aged 11 saw Isobel Lee earn a 7th place Overall, with Tilly Dooner 13th, Hannah Pratt 14th and Rebecca Razzaq in 16th.  Tilly was credited with 3rd on Vault and 6th on Bars.  Thea Thornsby had an amazing outing in the Level 6 Aged 8 competition earning 2nd place Overall on the podium, along with 1st on Bars and 3rd on Floor.  The Level 5 Aged 13+ earned Martha Smith the Overall Championship Title finishing in 1st place Overall with her best competition performance to date.  Martha also took top spot on both Bars and Beam taking the gold medals on both apparatus.  Emily Cockcroft rounded off the weekend with a worthy 13th place finish in the Level 6 Aged 9 category, competing in her first big 4 piece apparatus event.

 

The girls will now move on to next weeks Greater Manchester County Championships to be held at the same venue next weekend.

THE 2018 PINK LADIES INVITATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
ROGC's 23 gymnasts absolutely smashed their weekend of competition  ........


Rochdale Olympic Gymnastics Club sent 23 gymnasts to South Durham Gymnastics Club to contest the 2018 Pink Ladies Invitational Championships.  The Club and the girls had a rocky two weeks leading up to this event and over the whole weekend the unbelievable team spirit the girls showed for each other was absolutely amazing to witness, producing some outstanding performances and results.  


The weekend got off to a fantastic start with the Club's only individual entry, where Thea Thornsby competed in a huge field of Level 6 Aged 8 gymnasts, and earned a brilliant 6th place Overall. 


This position was aided by 3rd on Bars and 1st on Floor. 

 



The Club then had 5 Teams entered at various levels, resulting in all 5 teams medalling, 3 of them as Team Champions, and 4 gymnasts winning the Individual Overall Titles.


Kyrah Patterson, Jessica Lees, Tilly Dooner, Macy Stokes and Ella Rosales made up the Level 5 11 & Under Team taking top spot on the podium and crowned as Team Champions with team score of 132.06 marks.  Kyrah took victory in the individual standings finishing in 1st place Overall, along with 1st on Bars and 2nd on Floor.  Jessica took the beam title in 1st place.

Martel Emberga, Martha Smith, Sophie Cockcroft, Kaitlyn Campbell and Imogen Hurst combined as a team in the Level 5 12 & Over event finishing in 2nd place in the team standings with a 136.25 final team score.  Imogen triumphed in the individual standings finishing in 1st place Overall, followed by Martel Emberga with a well deserved 3rd placing.  Imogen was also rewarded with 2nd on Bars and Beam.

An amazing 3rd placed Team position was earned with just three team members as Lauren Hibbert, Wendy Sarco and Emily Chant all pulled together to earn a spot on the podium.  Emily earned an incredible 3rd place Overall in the individual standings, aided by a 1st place on Beam, shared with Lauren, with Wendy finishing in 8th place Overall.

 

The final day of competition saw the Club's two Level 6 teams in action and they rose to the occasion following the previous day's results.

Niamh Matthew, Cordy Welch, Sally Hassett and Zeynep Ikikardesler made up the Level 6 12 & Over Team and again took top spot in the medal positions finishing in 1st place with a 129.45 total team score.  Niamh Matthew stood proudly in top spot on the podium in 1st place Overall with Zeynep earning 5th place.  The girls took a clean sweep of the medals on bars with Sally in 1st, Niamh in 2nd and Cordy in 3rd.

Luci Ashton, Maisie Cosgrove, Rebecca Razzaq, Millie Nuttall and Isobel Lee contested the Level 6 11 & Under team event earning a brilliant 1st place with a massive team score of 138.68 marks. Individual Overall 1st place went to Luci, with Millie in 6th place.  Luci was also credited with 2nd on bars and 1st on Floor.

 

The girls have a busy month ahead as they now head into the North West 4 Piece Apparatus Championships and the Greater Manchester County 4 Piece Apparatus Championships on consecutive weekends both to be held in Wigan.

THE 2018 ROGC SUMMER CAMP
The whole week went down a treat ........


Summer Camp Week was yet another resounding success.  Lots of fun and frolics were had by all who attended, including the coaches.



Huge Congratulations to Leona Coglan who organised and ran the camp for the whole week.  And a great big thankyou to Mercedes Miladinovic, Michelle Hibbert, Eleanor Pratt, Megan Lang, Fiona Payton, Kerris Scrivner, Savanna Turner and Abigail Ashurst who all helped out during the week.

THE LIVERPOOL SUMMER SPARKLE INVITATIONAL
25 youngsters produce many medal winning routines at our first appearance at the event ........


25 gymnasts from Rochdale Olympic Gymnastics Club travelled to The City of Liverpool Gymnastics Club to participate in the 2018 Summer Sparkle Invitational for the first time. 

The girls contested various levels of competition in their relevant age groups with Thea Thornsby, Ella Rosales, Niamh Matthew, Kyrah Patterson and Tilly Dooner being crowned Overall Champions, all taking top spot on the podium in their events.

The weekend got off to a good start with Eleanor Pratt, Wendy Sarco and Emily Chant tackling Regional Level 4 for the first time. Emily had a steady competition to take 3rd place Overall, aided by a 2nd placing on Bars. Wendy took a well deserved 3rd place on Beam, with Eleanor taking away 3rd place on Vault and top spot on Bars.

The Regional Level 6 Aged 8 category saw Thea Thornsby lift the Overall trophy in 1st place.  Thea's victory was helped by 1st on Bars and Beam, and 2nd on Floor.  Ella Rosales triumphed in the Regional Level 6 Aged 10 event, taking 1st place Overall, with Macy Stokes 3rd, Millie Nuttall 4th, Summer Taylor 5th and Maisie Cosgrove 9th.  Ella also took 1st places on Beam and Floor.  Millie took 3rd place on Vault, Bars and Beam. Summer earned 2nd on Beam, with Macy taking 2nd on Vault and 1st on Bars. 

The final round of the competition saw the Regional Level 6 Aged 11 girls in action where Tilly Dooner proudly lifted the overall trophy in 1st place on the podium, followed by Hannah Pratt in 3rd, Rebecca Razzaq 4th and Isobel Lee 7th.  Tilly was also credited with 1st on Bars, 3rd Beam and 2nd Floor.  Hannah took 3rd on Vault and 2nd on Bars, with Rebecca taking 3rd on Bars.  Group 1 of the Regional Level 6 Aged 12+ saw Niamh Matthew take a brilliant win in 1st place Overall, closely followed by Cordy Welch in 2nd, Holly Rodgers in 3rd, Poppy Gethin-Jones in 4th, and Katie Pickup in 7th.  Niamh was also rewarded with 2nd on vault and 1st on Beam, with Cordy 1st on Bars, 2nd on Beam.  Katie received 3rd on Bars and Beam, with Poppy taking 1st on Floor, followed by Holly in 2nd who also took 2nd on Bars.  The Regional 5 Aged 11 + produced a fantastic win for Kyrah Patterson taking top spot podium, with Jessica Lees in 4th, Sophie Cockcroft 6th, Abigail Ashurst 9th, Savanna Turner 11th and Kaitlyn Campbell 12th.  Kyrah produced the top score on Beam taking 1st place, with Jessica earning a 2nd place on Bars. Group 2 of the Regional Level 6 Aged 12+ earned Zeynep Ikikardesler a 2nd place Overall amid taking 2nd on Bars, 1st on Beam, 2nd on Floor.

 

The girls will now work towards their next challenge as they look forward to competing in the Pink Ladies Invitational to be held in South Durham next month.

THE PHIL TIGHE FLOOR & VAULT CHAMPIONSHIPS
48 gymnasts, 2 Champions, lots of medals, loads of experience  ........


48 young gymnasts from Rochdale Olympic Gymnastics Club descended upon Birchwood Leisure Complex in Warrington to participate in the 2018 Phil Tighe Floor and Vault Championships. 

With many first time competitors gaining some immense experience, the girls returned home with almost 40 medal winning positions, with Ava Dixon and Grace Risby being crowned Overall Champions in the respective categories.

THE FRANK WILLIAMS FLOOR & VAULT CHAMPIONSHIPS
24 gymnasts bring home 52 medals and 8 Overall Champions !!!!


24 young gymnasts from Rochdale Olympic Gymnastics Club travelled to Stockport School of Gymnastics to compete in the 2018 Frank Williams Floor and Vault Championships for the first time. 

Between them the girls produced some outstanding work and returned home with 52 medal winning performances with Aimee Bulmer, Grace Risby, Pippa Hanson-Walker,  Leah Derby, Olivia Cheeseman, Scarlett Moore, Mika Pearson and Rose Freeman-Hart lifting trophies, all being crowned Overall Champions in their respective age groups.

Day 1 of proceedings got off to a cracking start where the younger Age 9 group saw Abigail Hinchcliff take 2nd on Floor, 3rd Vault, and 2nd Overall.   The older Age 8 group earned Aimee Bulmer the Overall Champion position with 1st on Floor and 2nd on Vault too. Freya Burgess picked up 2nd Overall, and 1st on Vault, with Sophie Squirrel 4th Overall, 2nd on Floor, and Lois Briddon 5th Overall and 3rd on Floor. The older Age 10 category saw Grace Risby finish as Overall Champion with 1st on Floor and Vault. Maisie Whitlow was rewarded with 3rd Overall, 3rd on Floor, and 2nd Vault.  Libby Whatmough finished in 12th position overall.

The older Age 9 section earned Olivia Holroyd 2nd Overall and 3rd on Floor.  Pippa Hanson-Walker took victory in the older Age 7 section finishing as Overall Champion in 1st place, along with 2nd Floor and 1st Vault.  With Isabelle Moseley-Dunne in 3rd Overall, 3rd on Floor, and 2nd on Vault.

 

Leah Derby kicked off day 2 as the Overall Champion in the older Age 11 group, also picking up 2nd on  Floor, and 1st on Vault.  The younger Age 10 girls earned Olivia Cheeseman the Overall Title in 1st place, also collecting 1st on Vault.  Holly Aylett earned 2nd Overall, with 2nd on Vault, Isla Dixon finished 4th Overall, with 2nd on Vault.  Evie Dixon took 1st place on Floor, finishing in 5th Overall, with Freya Howarth in 6th place in the individual standings.  A close battle in the younger Age 8 gymnasts saw Scarlett Moore lift the Overall Trophy in 1st place, with Daisy Whittaker close behind in 2nd place.  Scarlett took 1st on Floor and 2nd on Vault, whilst Daisy was credited with 2nd on Floor and 1st on Vault.

Mischa Eaton took a 2nd place Overall in the Age 12 sector, with Kacie Faith in 4th place.  Mischa also took 1st on Floor and 2nd on Vault, with Kacie 2nd on Floor.  Mika Pearson took victory in the Age 7 category finishing in 1st place Overall, aided by 2nd on Floor and 1st on Vault.  Ivy Clark also had a great event with 1st on Floor and 3rd on Vault for a 2nd placing Overall.

 

The weekend was rounded off  with Rose Freeman-Hart contesting the younger Age 7 group, where the Club's final Champion of the weekend was crowned with a 1st place finish Overall, aided by 3rd on Floor and 1st on Vault.

 

All the girls now look forward to competing in the Phil Tighe Floor and Vault Championships being held in Warrington in two weeks time.

THE WILTSHIRE SUMMER SIZZLER
14 youngsters bring home some brilliant results ........


14 young gymnasts aged 8-12 from Rochdale Olympic Gymnastics Club travelled to Wiltshire to compete in the Wiltshire School of Gymnastics Summer Sizzler 4 Piece Apparatus Championships held in Melksham. 

All the girls competed in the "Sandcastles" event and between them produced a fantastic team performance with all 14 gymnasts returning home with medals following some outstanding routines where Macy Stokes, Luci Ashton, Marianne Haboc, and Tilly Dooner won their respective categories.

Thea Thornsby got the day off to a cracking start with a 4th place finish in the 2010 category, also picking up 2nd on Vault, 3rd on Bars and 1st place on Floor.

 

Group 1 of the 2008 category saw Ella Rosales earn a 3rd place Overall, collecting 1st on Vault and 2nd on Floor along the way.  Group 2 of this category saw Macy Stokes take the Overall Title in 1st place with Margot Taylor 3rd, Summer Taylor 4th and Maisie Cosgrove 5th.  Macy's victory was aided by 3rd on Vault, 1st on Bars, 1st on Beam and 2nd on Floor.  Margot picked up 2nd on Bars, with Summer collecting the Vault title and Maisie earning 3rd place on both Beam and Floor.  The final Group 3 in the same category saw Luci Ashton finish as the Overall Champion in 1st place, closely followed by Millie Nuttall in 2nd.  Luci was also rewarded with 1st on Vault, 1st on Bars, 2nd on Beam and 2nd on Floor, with Millie taking 2nd on Bars.

Group 1 of the 2007 age group saw Marianne Haboc in an amazing 1st place Overall, closely followed by Isobel Lee in 2nd. 

Marianne was also credited with 2nd on Bars, and 1st on Beam, with Isobel earning 3rd on Vault, 3rd on Bars, 3rd on Beam and 1st on Floor.  Tilly Dooner was crowned the Overall Champion in Group 2 of this age group in 1st place Overall, with Rebecca Razzaq in 5th.  Tilly's top spot was helped by 1st on Vault, 1st on Bars, and 2nd on Floor with Rebecca taking 2nd on Bars.

 

A highly successful outing was rounded off with Zeynep Ikikardelser finishing in 2nd place Overall, and Martel Emberga in 4th Overall in the 2006 group.  Zeynep also collected 2nd on Bars, and 1st on Beam, with Martel being rewarded with 3rd on Vault, 1st on Bars and 2nd on Floor.

NEWLY QUALIFIED JUDGES


Rochdale Olympic Gymnastics Club has 5 newly qualified Club Judges.

Lauren Hibbert, Lauryn Campbell, Eleanor Pratt, Kerris Scrivner and Michelle Hibbert all passed the Women's Artistic Club Judging examinations with flying colours.  Don't relax now girls - you will be being called upon for some judging duties.

NORTH WEST GRADES FINALS FOR COUNTY TEAMS
3 Rochdale OGC Gymnasts represent the Greater Manchester County


Three gymnasts from Rochdale Olympic Gymnastics Club represented the Greater Manchester County in the North West Grades Finals following qualification from the County Championships earlier in the year.

Jessica Lees competed as a member of the Grade 3 Team, which eventually finished in 2nd place Overall.  Jessica earned a 3rd placing on Bars, with an 8th placing Overall.  Wendy Sarco competed as a member of the Grade 2 Team where she collected a fantastic 3rd placing Overall.  The team again placed 2nd, with Wendy earning 3rd on Vault, and 1st on Bars.  Ellan Lang represented the County as a member of the Grade 1 Team which also finished in 2nd place in the team rankings.  Ellan was rewarded with 1st on Vault and Bars, finishing in 12th Overall.  As a County, Greater Manchester finished in 2nd place Overall.


LEONA SAILS THROUGH HER WA LEVEL 2


Whilst we were competing in Stockport, Leona Coglan travelled to Bradford to take her Women's Artistic Level 2 Coaching Examination. 

And following all her hard work, Leona passed both her Practical and Theory with Flying Colours. Massive well done to Leona, and huge thank you to Kaitlyn Campbell, Kyrah Patterson and Jessica Lees who accompanied Leona in her venture to help her along the way with her practical examination.

STOCKPORT REC 4 PIECE CHAMPIONSHIPS


Rochdale Olympic Gymnastics Club arrived at Stockport School of Gymnastics with 12 gymnasts to participate in the 2018 Stockport 4 Piece Recreational Championships.

The girls were entered into 5 different age groups with outstanding success in all categories, returning home with 30 medal winning positions and 2 Overall Champions with Charlotte Wystawnoha and Isobel Lee triumphing in their respective categories.

Niamh Matthew and Charlotte Wystawnoha got the day off to a great start in the Gymnasts Aged 13 group where Charlotte was crowned the Overall Champion in 1st place, closely followed by Niamh in 3rd.  The two girls shared 3rd place on Vault, with Charlotte earning 1st on Bars, and 2nd on beam, and Niamh picking up 2nd on Bars and Floor.


Round 2 saw first time competitor for the Club Emily Cockcroft finish in a splendid 2nd place Overall in the Gymnasts Aged 9 category, closely followed by Lyla Briddon in 3rd place.  Lyla was credited with 2nd on Beam with Emily snatching 1st on Bars, 3rd on Beam and 2nd on Floor.  Isobel Lee had a brilliant outing in the Gymnasts Aged 10 competition taking Overall top spot on the podium in 1st place Overall and lifting the trophy, along with a 1st place on Vault, 1st on Bars, and 2nd on Beam.

The final round of the day saw the Gymnasts Aged 14+ in action where Holly Rodgers had a 2nd place finish, followed by Katie Pickup in 3rd, and Eve Jennings in 9th.  Holly was rewarded with 2nd on Bars, and Katie picked up 1st on Bars and 2nd on Floor.   The gymnasts Aged 8 had impressive competitions with Ava Dixon finishing 3rd Overall, Alba Giordani 4th, and Lottie Peacocke in 5th.  Ava collected 3rd on Vault, 1st Beam, 3rd Floor, with Alba taking 1st on Vault and Bars, and Lottie earning 3rd on Bars.

GREATER MANCHESTER GRADES CHAMPIONSHIPS


Rochdale Olympic Gymnastics Club entered 22 gymnasts into the Greater Manchester Grades Championships, all with the target of passing their Grades. 

They travelled to Robin Park Arena in Wigan to take on this feat, and surpassed their goals by a huge margin, returning home with 12 Distinctions, 10 Commendations, and 4 County Grades Champions with Ellan Lang being crowned the victor in Grade 1, Wendy Sarco taking top spot on the podium in Grade 2, Zeynep Ikikardesler emerging the winner in Grade 5 Out of Age, and Ella Rosales becoming the champion in Grade 6 Out of Age.  Ellan and Wendy will now go on to represent the Greater Manchester County in the Regional Finals to be held at the same venue next month, along with Jessica Lees who took a fantastic 2nd place in the Grade 3 contest.
